In her art project ‘Untiefe’ Isabel Roos explores the dual nature of heights and depths by focusing on the connection between water and landscape. Through a combination of paintings in oil and acrylic on canvas as well as digital drawings and artworks, the complexity of the theme is visually interpreted. “Untiefe” focuses on the contrasts and harmonies that exist in nature: the heights of the mountains and the mysterious depths of the water. The boundaries between sky and water become blurred. By using different techniques and materials, the idea of shallowness can be experienced not only as a geographical concept, but also as a visual one. The title ‘Untiefe/Shallow’ simultaneously alludes to the physical depth of bodies of water and metaphorically reflects the superficiality of human emotions and relationships, capturing the multi-layered nature of experiences and perceptions in our world.
